ABOUT DEL TORO
The owners' story: We were close friends since we were young. When we were 15 we started a car detailing company in Palm Beach, Florida called the Palm Beach Auto Spa. We made a great chunk of change for a couple high school kids. We had the entrepreneurial spirit from the get go.
A couple years later, we badly wanted a pair of velvet shoes with our school emblem on them. To think, we could be smoking our senior cigars in our boarding school slippers. If we made it to graduation, we should have the shoes, as a commemorative trimming. We'd gone along with the program for the last four years, or at least to the best of our ability - apart couple of minor incidents we had made it.
We realized the only way to get these custom shoes was to wait 8-12 months and to pay upwards of $900. We spoke about this dilemma and the idea sparked. What if we could provide a custom shoe to college, fraternity and boarding school kids for a significantly lower price? Here we are three years later, from Kent to New York, to Las Vegas (where everything but the idea and suits remained) to Palm Beach.
