White Tie Affairs
Proper Look And Etiquette

The most glamorous and romantic eveningwear of all, ‘white tie and tails’ is not only worn to the most glamorous and romantic evening parties, but also to the most formal of evening occasions such as state banquets.  The white tie tuxedo ensemble consists of a black evening tailcoat, black dress trousers with a double braid down the outer seam, and a stiff-fronted pique shirt fastened with mother of pearl or gold studs and cufflinks.  The pique bow tie and pique vest are traditionally bought together to maintain a consistent pique texture. Black patent leather lace-up shoes are traditional and under no circumstances is a casual black shoe appropriate. You may also be required to wear white gloves, top hat and/or cane depending upon what else the invitation might request. If the party is a New Years or Mardi gras you may be able to spruce up your look with a black top hat, a pair of white gloves and even a black cloak.
