Are there any guidelines that I should consider when selecting how many front buttons should be on my jacket? |
|
Although selecting the number of front buttons on your jacket is a preference call, there are some helpful guidelines that may assist you with your decision.
If you desire a more classic or traditional styling, stay with a one or two button model with satin lapels. If you want to be a little more unique or fashion forward, you may opt for more front buttons on your jacket. Although 3,4, and 5 button models were very popular in the late 90's, they are not nearly as popular today. Even if you desire something a little more fashion forward but do not want to get crazy with the excess front buttons, I would recommend going with some of the newer 2-button versions with special lapel treatments such as "framed satin edges" or "inset satin lapels". These updated lapel treatments are becoming increasingly popular in today's formal wear fashions.
Regarding height, shorter gentleman should definitely stay with the 1 or 2 button models. Taller gentleman will usually go with either a 2 or 3 button model. |
