My fiance and I are going to have a "Destination Wedding." What should he wear? |
|
Congratulations on your upcoming wedding !!! I've attended a few destination weddings. Sometimes the groom was dressed well, but most of the items I cringed when I saw what the groom was wearing.
A destination wedding is usually a more relaxed casual atmosphere and doesn't require the formality of a black tuxedo with satin lapels. In fact, sometimes it may even look out of place. Instead, I like to see either light colored linen suits or high-quality wool suits. (NOTE: high quality wool suits with a high thread count are perfect for warmer, tropical climates; the fabric tends to breathe very well and is considered a light weight fabric. Consider going with a Super 120's or Super 150's wool formal suit).
Formal suit colors of choice are normally tan or taupe (although navy can also be worn). Regarding shirts, definitely do not go with pleated shirt; stay with a non-pleated cotton shirt with a laydown collar. For neckwear, you can either go with a necktie or no necktie (your choice). I've seen grooms pull it off either way, but most of the times I've like seeing a nice tie that brings the ensemble together. |
