Tuxedos are available in 3 basic styles:  notch, peak, and shawl.  These 3 terms refer to the lapels on a tuxedo jacket.  Choosing one that is right for you is simply a matter of taste or preference.

Lapel Styles

Notch = the most popular style today.  A triangular indentation is cut where the lapel joins the collar.

Peak = most classic style.  A broad V-shaped lapel that points up and out just below the collar line.

Shawl = A smooth, rounded edge lapel.
